Stopping to smell the roses is such a special thing to do. As I was rushing about, the gorgeous roses in my garden were slowly doing their thing until they burst into a glory of colour and smell. On a day I was finding difficult, I went outside to the roses and began to paint them so I could be in the moment of dappled sunlight, fragrance and pink beauty. I painted them in the moment and then completed them in the studio afterwards wanting to capture the feeling of that moment - the pause and the beauty.
